Port Orange Church of the Nazarene is part of a larger denomination called The Church of the Nazarene.

We are a protestant church in the Wesleyan tradition.

Our denomination serves in over 160 countries through local churches, schools, hospitals and more.

Why Nazarene?

When our denomination began over 100 years ago, the founders wanted to be known as followers of Jesus who was from Nazareth (hence, a Nazarene). It's a funny sounding word, we know. 

​

In Scripture, it's asked of Jesus, "What good can come from Nazareth?" There was a sense, even then, that Jesus was one who hung out with those who needed hope in their lives. From our founding, it has been our mission to meet people where they are and show them the hope that comes from knowing Jesus.
